It's pretty common with surfboards. They lay down the graphics on rice paper (super thin, gets mostly transparent once its wet) then cover it with fiberglass. On this bike, he just cleared over it. Interesting idea, I hadn't seen it used on anything other than a bike.

Ok imm going to tell you waht it is,as a surfboard shapper I do thi stuff in every board to place the logos , its really simple (but also never heard of it in airbrush).

Rice paper is a type of paper really thin, like smoking paper (actually smoking paper is rice paper, it can also be silk paper or japanese paper. you can get it in almost every arts store.

Actually what happens is that the clearcoat, or in surfboard case the glassing, saturates the paper and makes it invisible except for the printedesign so it acts like transparency. Its really cool and except because its a pain in the ass to print on it you can get exceptional results.

A little tip, if you want to print on it, you can do it with a regular printer by fixing the paper (staples, celo tape...) to a regular A4 sheet of paper , so the printer will take it as normal paper, if not its too think to being handled by the printer
I hope i helped you

The bills are printed from a computer.. Not airbrushed... Great way to do it.

you can use inkjet water slide decal paper also. There are a bunch of video's on youtube on how to use this paper it comes in clear and white backed because you can't print white.

Thats cool!

Who cares if its not airbrushed? Thats something they call Mixed-media

Its a shame the bills are flat though. I mean come on! Finally a nice way to skip the details and make an awesome bike with fire and bills, bills had to be ripping and twirling around! I do really like airbrushing but its the final result that matters.
