hey whiplash... i dont know if you read the specs on the iwata G6... but its not considered a touch up gun.. its just a really large airbrush (.6 needle/nozzle) with the body of a small hvlp gun. but they say its great for backgrounds and shit like that... so i dont know..lol

Great advice but would add that it is not recommended to spray 2 pack clear's in any of these environments, although you may feel protected with a mask, unless it is air-fed your NOT. Besides fumes will leak and you don't want your family and neighbours picking up the nasties in them. Stick with 1K clears for home use.

rcan clears.

Whiplash All I have are rattle can clears. Can I use these with the same principles with the rattlecan clears? Every time I've used the clears though I get a foggy clear. The remaining particles in the air won't hurt anything? I thought they would fall on it and leave it either fogged up or rough. If I do a good enough job clearing do I have to sand with high grit(2000) sandpaper? Can I build a "chamber" made of cardboard to clearcoat in? Do I need to ventilate it ? Thanks

rattlecan clears

Whiplash All I have are rattle can clears. Can I use these with the same principles with the rattlecan clears? Yes, the same principle applys. Keep the can the correct distance from the project and use the 50% overlap.

Every time I've used the clears though I get a foggy clear. What kind of clear are you using? Are you allowing it to flash off (drytime)? putting in on too heavy/too light?

The remaining particles in the air won't hurt anything? I thought they would fall on it and leave it either fogged up or rough. The remaining particles in the air... are you meaning the 'mist' from the clear? Yes, you need to clear that out of the air, use a fan or well vented area. The fog will actually hinder the release of the solvents in the clear and then you get pinholes called solvent pops.

If I do a good enough job clearing do I have to sand with high grit(2000) sandpaper? No, not if you get it smooth enough and without alot of nibs. When you sand with 2000 your getting into the polish stage which is not always necessary.

Can I build a "chamber" made of cardboard to clearcoat in? Do I need to ventilate it ? Yes, that is definitely a good idea... JasonJones has a good post... Spray boothS
Thanks Your Welcome
